A Sonoma County native, Jay’s first passion was classical music. After earning a Bachelor of Music from The New England Conservatory in Boston, he went on to perform with orchestras and ensembles both nationally and around the world. Having worked as a hospitality professional for more than fifteen years, Jay has developed extensive wine and spirits knowledge, ranging from the history and geography of the world’s wine regions to their greatest winemakers. With multifaceted leadership positions in Michelin-starred restaurants—combining floor sommelier sales and service duties with wine and beverage inventory oversight, staff education and management, and diverse projects—Jay brings a unique skillset to his role at Soutirage. Most recently, he was sommelier at Ai Fiori in Manhattan.
Jay is a certified sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, whose specific proclivities lean toward the region of Barolo, Friuli, Champagne, Alsace, the Mosel and, of course, his native Sonoma County.
